How to connect LoyaltyLion to Datadrew

What data does Datadrew pull from LoyaltyLion?

Connecting LoyaltyLion to Datadrew gives you deep insights into your loyalty program's impact on retention and revenue. Datadrew syncs customer loyalty data, points earned and redeemed, reward claims, tier progression, and program activity — helping you measure how loyalty drives repeat purchases and customer lifetime value.

Prerequisites

  • A LoyaltyLion account — API access may require the Advanced plan or higher (check with LoyaltyLion support for your specific plan's API availability)
  • Admin access to your LoyaltyLion dashboard

Plan note: API key access may be restricted to the Advanced plan or higher. If you do not see the API keys section in your dashboard, contact LoyaltyLion support to confirm your plan includes API access.

Step-by-step: Create your LoyaltyLion API key

  1. Log in to your LoyaltyLion Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Manage in the top navigation.
  3. Click API keys.
  4. Click Create API key.
  5. Give the key a descriptive name (e.g., "Datadrew Integration").
  6. Grant the following scopes: read_customers and read_orders.
  7. Save and copy the generated API key.

Good to know: LoyaltyLion's new API key format uses a pat_ prefix. If your key starts with pat_, you are using the correct format. Older key formats may still work but the new format is recommended.

What to enter in Datadrew

  1. In your Datadrew dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find LoyaltyLion and click Connect.
  3. Paste your API key into the API Key field.
  4. Click Save to complete the connection.

Troubleshooting

  • "API keys" section not visible? Your LoyaltyLion plan may not include API access. Contact LoyaltyLion support to confirm whether your plan supports API key generation.
  • Insufficient permissions error? Make sure you granted the read_customers and read_orders scopes when creating the API key. Without these scopes, Datadrew cannot fetch the required data.
  • Using an old API key format? LoyaltyLion recommends the new pat_ prefix format. If you have an older key, consider creating a new one in the updated format for better compatibility.
  • Data not syncing? Verify the API key was copied correctly and that it has the required scopes. Allow up to 24 hours for the initial data sync to complete.
