How to connect Attentive to Datadrew

What data does Datadrew pull from Attentive?

Connecting Attentive to Datadrew gives you access to your SMS and email marketing data, including subscriber lists, campaign performance, message delivery rates, custom events, and e-commerce attribution data. This helps you measure the ROI of your SMS marketing, compare channel performance, and optimize subscriber engagement.

Prerequisites

  • An Attentive account (any plan)
  • Admin access to your Attentive account
  • An active Datadrew account (any plan)

Step-by-step: Generate your Attentive API key

  1. Log in to your Attentive dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Integrations in the main menu.

  3. Click App Marketplace.

  4. Click Create Custom App.

  5. Give the app a descriptive name (e.g., "Datadrew Integration").

  6. Enable Write permissions for the following APIs:

    • Subscribers
    • Custom Events
    • eCommerce APIs
  7. Click Create to generate the API key.

  8. Copy the API key immediately -- it is only shown once and cannot be retrieved later.

Warning: The Attentive API key is only displayed once at the time of creation. If you lose it, you will need to create a new Custom App and generate a new key.

What to enter in Datadrew

  1. In Datadrew, go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find Attentive and click Connect.
  3. Paste your API key into the API Key field.
  4. Click Save to complete the connection.

Troubleshooting

  • Lost your API key: Attentive only shows the key once. If you did not copy it, delete the custom app and create a new one.
  • "Unauthorized" error: Verify you copied the complete key without extra spaces. Re-generate if unsure.
  • Missing data: Ensure the custom app has Write permissions for Subscribers, Custom Events, and eCommerce APIs. Without these scopes, some data will not sync.
  • "App Marketplace" not visible: Ensure you have Admin access to the Attentive account. Contact your Attentive account owner if needed.
