Drew AI limitations

Drew AI is a powerful analytics tool, but it has some limitations that are important to understand. Being aware of these will help you set the right expectations and get the most value from your conversations. Drew AI is read-only Drew AI can analyze your data and provide insights, but it cannot take actions on your behalf. It cannot: - Create, pause, or modify ad campaigns in Meta Ads or Google Ads - Send emails or create flows in Klaviyo - Change product prices, inventory, or settings in Shopify - Update your Datadrew account settings Drew AI will give you recommendations on what to do, but you will need to take the actions yourself in the relevant platform. Shopify data is not available for today Shopify data (orders, customers, products, revenue) is synced daily and is only available up through yesterday. Drew AI cannot show you today's Shopify sales, order count, or revenue. For today's metrics, you can ask about ad platform data (Meta Ads, Google Ads, GA4) which is available in real-time. Data depends on your integrations Drew AI can only analyze platforms you have connected. If you have not connected Google Ads, Drew AI cannot analyze your Google Ads data — even if you have active campaigns. Make sure all your platforms are connected on the Integrations page to get the full benefit. It is AI, not a database lookup Drew AI uses advanced AI models to interpret your questions and fetch data. Occasionally it may: - Misinterpret an ambiguous question — try rephrasing with more specific details - Present data in a format different from what you expected — ask for the specific format you want - Take a different analytical approach than you had in mind — provide more context about what you are looking for If a response does not look right, give feedback using the thumbs down button and rephrase your question. Drew AI improves with feedback. Credit limits apply Each plan has a monthly credit allowance (Free: 200, Essentials: 1,000, Pro: 4,000). Complex questions using Deep Analysis mode consume more credits. If you run out of credits, you will need to wait until the next month or upgrade your plan. No real-time Shopify webhooks Drew AI does not receive live Shopify webhooks for instant order notifications. It queries historical data from the warehouse (up to yesterday) or uses MCP tools for ad platforms. If you need real-time order alerts, use Shopify's native notification system. Off-topic questions are declined Drew AI is purpose-built for e-commerce analytics. It will politely decline questions unrelated to marketing, advertising, e-commerce, or analytics — such as general knowledge questions, recipe requests, or entertainment topics. Platform API limits When Drew AI pulls data from live APIs (Meta Ads, Google Ads, etc.), it is subject to the API rate limits and data availability of each platform. In rare cases: - A platform API may be temporarily slow or unavailable - Very large data requests may be paginated, potentially missing some details - Some platform features or metrics may not be exposed through their API We are always improving Drew AI is actively being improved with new capabilities, skills, and data sources. Drew AI data sources — real-time vs. historical

Drew AI pulls data from two fundamentally different sources, and understanding the difference helps you ask better questions and interpret answers correctly. Historical data (our data warehouse data warehouse) Your Shopify data — orders, customers, products, revenue — is synced daily into Datadrew's data warehouse (Google our data warehouse). This data goes through a pipeline: 1. our data pipeline syncs raw data from Shopify into our data warehouse 2. our data transformation layer transforms the raw data into analytics-ready tables (79 SQL models) 3. Drew AI's SQL subagent queries these transformed tables Key characteristics: - Freshness: Data is available up to yesterday. Today's data is not yet synced. - Depth: Full historical data — every order, customer, product, and transaction since you connected. - Capabilities: Complex queries, joins, aggregations, cohort analysis, RFM segmentation, LTV calculations, product performance, basket analysis. - Speed: Queries typically complete in 5-15 seconds. Used for: Shopify orders, customers, products, revenue, RFM segments, LTV cohorts, repurchase rates, basket analysis, blended metrics, product performance, benchmarks. Real-time data (MCP live API tools) For ad platforms, email marketing, and web analytics, Drew AI connects directly to the platform APIs to pull live, up-to-the-minute data: - Meta/Facebook Ads: 21 API tools — campaigns, ad sets, ads, creatives, insights, audiences - Klaviyo: 18 API tools — campaigns, flows, profiles, segments, lists, metrics, events, templates - Google Analytics: 7 API tools — sessions, users, pageviews, conversions, source/medium breakdowns - Google Search Console: 4 API tools — search queries, pages, clicks, impressions, positions - Google Ads: 3 API tools — campaigns, ad groups, keywords via GAQL queries - Shopify: 2 API tools — limited real-time product and order data Key characteristics: - Freshness: Real-time. Data reflects the current state of the platform, including today. - Depth: Depends on what the platform API exposes. Some historical data is available through APIs, but it varies by platform. - Capabilities: Platform-specific queries and metrics as supported by each API. - Speed: Queries typically complete in 3-10 seconds per API call. How Drew AI chooses which source to use Drew AI automatically routes your question to the right data source. You generally do not need to specify which one to use. Here are the routing rules: - Shopify data questions (orders, customers, revenue, products) go to the data warehouse. - Ad platform questions (Meta Ads, Google Ads performance) go to live APIs. - Klaviyo questions (email campaigns, flows, subscribers) go to live APIs. - Google Analytics questions (traffic, sessions, conversions) go to live APIs. - Cross-platform blended metrics are calculated using both sources — warehouse data for Shopify revenue and live APIs for ad spend. - Industry benchmarks and external context come from web search. The key takeaway If you ask for Shopify data from today, Drew AI will tell you it is not available yet. For ad platform data from today, Drew AI can pull it in real-time. Understanding this distinction will save you time and help you phrase your questions for the best results. Need help? Reach out to support@datadrew.io or use the in-app chat. Why Drew AI says 'data not available'

If Drew AI responds with "data not available" or cannot find the information you asked about, it is almost always due to one of a few common reasons. Here is how to diagnose and fix the issue. Reason 1: Asking for today's Shopify data This is the most common reason. Shopify data in Datadrew (orders, customers, products, revenue) is synced daily and is only available up to yesterday. If you ask "What were my sales today?" or "How many orders did I get today?", Drew AI cannot answer because today's Shopify data has not been processed yet. What to do: - Ask about yesterday or earlier: "What were my sales yesterday?" - For today's ad platform data (Meta Ads, Google Ads, GA4), Drew AI can pull real-time numbers — just specify the platform: "What is my Google Ads spend today?" Reason 2: Integration not connected Drew AI can only access data from platforms you have connected. If you ask about Google Ads but have not connected your Google Ads account, Drew AI will not be able to pull that data. What to do: - Go to the Integrations page in Datadrew - Connect the platform you want to analyze (Meta Ads, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Klaviyo, or Google Search Console) - Once connected, Drew AI will automatically have access to that data Reason 3: Data sync still in progress If you recently connected a new integration, it may take some time for the initial data sync to complete. our data pipeline (our data pipeline) syncs raw data into the warehouse, and then data transformations process it into analytics-ready tables. What to do: - Check the sync status on the Integrations page - For newly connected integrations, allow up to 24 hours for the initial data to be fully available - Real-time MCP data (Meta Ads, Google Ads, etc.) is available immediately after connecting — historical warehouse data takes longer Reason 4: No data exists for that query Sometimes the data simply does not exist. For example, if you ask about repurchase rates for a product that has only been purchased once, or if you ask for data from a time period before you connected the integration. What to do: - Try broadening your time range - Check if the metric makes sense for your data (e.g., repurchase rates require at least some repeat customers) - Ask Drew AI what data is available: "What Shopify data do you have access to?" Reason 5: Asking about unsupported data Drew AI covers a wide range of e-commerce analytics but does not cover everything. For example, it cannot access your Shopify admin settings, fulfillment details, or inventory management data. What to do: - Check the help center for a list of supported data sources and metrics - If you think the data should be available, contact our support team Still seeing issues? If none of the above reasons apply, the issue might be temporary. Try rephrasing your question or starting a new conversation thread. If the problem persists, reach out to support@datadrew.io or use the in-app chat and include your question so we can investigate. Tips for getting better answers from Drew AI

The quality of Drew AI's answers depends heavily on how you phrase your questions. Use the D.R.E.W. framework to get better, more actionable responses every time. The D.R.E.W. Framework D — Define your metrics Be specific about what you want to measure. Instead of asking vague questions, name the exact metrics you care about. - Vague: "How are my ads doing?" - Better: "What is my ROAS, CPA, and conversion rate for Meta Ads this month?" Common metrics to specify: revenue, orders, ROAS, CAC, CPA, CTR, CPC, CPM, AOV, LTV, conversion rate, retention rate, open rate, click rate. R — Restrict the scope Narrow your question with specific time ranges, platforms, campaigns, or product categories. The more focused your question, the more precise the answer. - Broad: "Show me sales data." - Better: "Show me daily revenue for the last 14 days, broken down by new vs. returning customers." Useful restrictions to include: - Time range: "last 7 days," "January 2026," "this month vs. last month" - Platform: "Meta Ads," "Google Ads," "Klaviyo" - Breakdown: "by campaign," "by product type," "by week" - Segment: "new customers only," "Champions segment," "from Google Ads" E — Ensure your data is connected Drew AI can only analyze data from integrations you have set up. Before asking about a platform, check that it is connected on the Integrations page. - Shopify: Automatically connected (data available up to yesterday). - Meta Ads, Google Ads, GA4, Klaviyo, GSC: Must be connected manually via OAuth on the Integrations page. If you ask about a platform that is not connected, Drew AI will let you know and suggest connecting it. W — Wield actionable output Tell Drew AI what kind of output or action you want. Do you want a chart? A table? Recommendations? An export? - Basic: "Show me campaign performance." - Better: "Show me campaign performance for the last 30 days with a trend chart, and recommend which campaigns to scale vs. pause." Useful output requests: - "Show me a chart" or "Visualize this as a trend" - "Give me recommendations" or "What should I do next?" - "Export this as a CSV" - "Compare this with industry benchmarks" More tips for better answers - Use follow-ups instead of new threads: Drew AI remembers context within a conversation. Follow-up questions like "Break that down by week" or "Now show me only the top 5" are more efficient. - One topic per question: If you need to know about ads AND customers, ask two separate questions rather than combining them. - Name your campaigns or products: If you know the specific campaign or product name, include it. Drew AI can search for it directly. - Ask for explanations: If you do not understand a metric, ask Drew AI to explain it: "What does blended ROAS mean and how is it calculated?" Need help?
