Uploading files for analysis

Drew AI can analyze files you upload directly in the chat. This is useful when you have data in spreadsheets, reports in PDFs, or other documents that you want Drew AI to interpret alongside your connected store data. Supported file types You can upload the following file types to Drew AI: - CSV files (.csv): Spreadsheet data, exported reports, custom data sets - Excel files (.xlsx): Excel spreadsheets (automatically converted to CSV for analysis) - PDF files (.pdf): Reports, invoices, competitor analyses, or any document - Plain text (.txt): Notes, logs, or any text content - TSV files (.tsv): Tab-separated data files - JSON files (.json): Structured data or API exports - Images (.jpg, .png, .gif, .webp): Screenshots, ad creatives, or any visual content How to upload files There are three ways to attach files to your Drew AI conversation: 1. Click the upload button: Click the attachment icon in the chat input area and select files from your computer. 2. Drag and drop: Drag files directly into the Drew AI chat window. 3. Paste: Copy a file or screenshot and paste it directly into the chat input (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V). You can upload multiple files at once. Duplicate files are automatically detected and prevented. What Drew AI does with your files When you upload a file, Drew AI reads and understands its contents: - Data files (CSV, Excel, JSON, TSV): Drew AI loads the data into its analysis environment and can query, filter, aggregate, and visualize it. It presents CSV data as formatted tables. - PDFs and documents: Drew AI reads the content and can answer questions about it, summarize it, or cross-reference it with your store data. - Images: Drew AI can view and describe images — useful for reviewing ad creatives or analyzing screenshots. Example use cases - Analyze a custom report: Upload a CSV from another tool and ask Drew AI to analyze trends, find outliers, or compare it with your Shopify data. - Review competitor data: Upload a PDF of a competitor analysis and ask Drew AI to compare it with your metrics. - Audit ad creatives: Upload screenshots of ad creatives and ask Drew AI which ones align with your performance data. - Import external data: Upload a CSV of influencer campaign costs and ask Drew AI to calculate blended ROAS including those costs. File size and limitations - Large files will be summarized or truncated rather than displayed in full. - Very large CSV files may be sampled to the first several thousand rows for analysis. - All uploaded files are securely stored and associated with your conversation thread. Generating reports and dashboards

Drew AI can generate comprehensive reports and downloadable files based on your data analysis. Whether you need a weekly marketing summary, a product performance audit, or raw data for further analysis, Drew AI can help. Generating reports Ask Drew AI for any type of report and it will analyze the relevant data and produce a structured, detailed response. Popular report types include: - Weekly marketing report: A cross-channel summary with key metrics, trends, and recommendations. - Campaign performance audit: Deep dive into specific ad campaigns with performance grades and optimization tips. - Customer health report: RFM segment overview with retention metrics and at-risk customer identification. - Product performance report: Hero products, ad spend efficiency, and repurchase analysis. Just ask naturally: "Generate a weekly marketing report for last week" or "Give me a product performance audit for the last 30 days." Exporting data Drew AI can create downloadable files when you ask for exports. Simply include phrases like "export as CSV," "download this data," or "save as a file" in your question. Supported export formats: - CSV: Best for tabular data that you want to open in a spreadsheet (Excel, Google Sheets). - JSON: Best for nested or structured data. - Markdown: Best for narrative reports or documentation. When Drew AI creates an export, it generates a downloadable artifact with a description that appears as a card in the conversation. Click the card to download your file. Dashboard-style analysis While Drew AI does not create persistent dashboards that you can revisit later, it can generate dashboard-style analyses within a conversation. These include multiple charts, tables, and key metric summaries in a single response. Try: "Give me a dashboard view of my marketing performance this month" — Drew AI will create multiple visualizations and metric summaries in one comprehensive response. Report with charts Drew AI reports automatically include relevant visualizations. A weekly marketing report, for example, might include: - A line chart showing daily spend and revenue trends - A bar chart comparing campaign performance - A pie chart showing channel contribution - Data tables with detailed metrics All charts and tables appear inline within the conversation. Sharing reports To share Drew AI analysis with your team: - Export the data as CSV or Markdown and share the file - Take screenshots of charts and insights - Team members with Datadrew access can view conversation history in Drew AI Need help? Understanding Drew AI visualizations

Drew AI automatically generates charts and visualizations whenever your data involves trends, comparisons, or distributions. You do not need to ask for a chart specifically — Drew AI decides when a visualization will help you understand the data better. Supported chart types Drew AI can generate 10 different chart types, each suited to different kinds of data: - Line chart: Best for trends over time (e.g., daily revenue, weekly spend). This is the most common chart type. - Bar chart: Best for comparing categories side by side (e.g., campaign performance, product revenue). - Area chart: Similar to line charts but with filled areas, good for showing cumulative trends or volume. - Stacked bar: Shows composition over time or by category (e.g., revenue by channel stacked by month). - Grouped bar: Side-by-side bars for comparing multiple metrics per category. - Scatter plot: Shows relationships between two metrics (e.g., ad spend vs. ROAS by campaign). - Combo chart: Combines bars and lines — useful when showing volume (bars) alongside a rate (line), like orders and conversion rate together. - Heatmap: Visualizes data density or intensity across two dimensions, often used for cohort analysis. - Pie chart: Shows distribution across categories (e.g., revenue split by platform). - Sankey (flow) chart: Shows how values flow between stages, ideal for marketing funnels, budget allocation, or traffic source breakdowns. How charts are generated When Drew AI fetches your data and determines a chart would be helpful, it automatically creates a chart specification that includes: - The right chart type for your data - Properly labeled axes and series - A descriptive title - Color-coded series for easy reading Charts appear inline within the conversation, right alongside the text explanation. Interacting with charts - Hover over data points to see exact values. - Read the legend at the bottom of the chart to identify each data series. - Charts are responsive and will resize to fit your screen. When Drew AI creates charts Drew AI typically generates a visualization when: - You ask about trends over time ("Show me spend trend for the last 30 days") - You compare categories ("Compare performance across campaigns") - You ask about distributions ("What is the revenue split by platform?") - You ask about funnels or flows ("Show me the marketing funnel") If you want a chart and Drew AI did not create one, just ask: "Can you visualize that as a chart?" or "Show me a trend chart for this data." Mermaid diagrams For non-data visualizations like workflows, processes, or campaign structures, Drew AI may generate Mermaid diagrams — flowcharts, sequence diagrams, or state diagrams rendered as text-based graphics. These are useful for understanding campaign structure or data flow. Need help? Reach out to support@datadrew.io or use the in-app chat.
